Poems

I’ve added some poems, printed words and everything. Here’s one.

Rebellion

Now, rebellion can be rock and roll and rebellion can be fun

But I’d ideally like to live in a world where the need for rebellion is gone

Because Rebels push against the people telling them how to be

And I want to live somewhere that embraces diversity

I want to live where it’s not rebellious to dress in creative ways

Where going to work in a kigu, or Pjamas is quite is quite okay

I want to shop in slippers, wear jeans and a vest with no shirt

I want to be where it’s positively encouraged, for men to wear short skirts

I want to live where a mid-life crisis is a thing to celebrate

Because folk are encouraged to follow their heart before it’s all too late

I want to live somewhere where it’s not rebellious to go into work very late

Where it’s not rebellious to leave early,

Where it’s not rebellious to take a lunch hour that is actually a whole hour long

Where it’s the work you do every day that counts, not when you arrive and are gone.

I want to live in a place where it’s not rebellious to be female and not on a diet

Where it’s not rebellious to be fat

Where it’s not rebellious to be thin

Where you’re not considered ‘lucky’ or unusual for loving the skin you’re in.

I want to live where it’s not rebellious to have lots and lots of sex

I want to live where it’s not rebellious to have lots and lots of lovers

And I want to live where that’s okay for anyone to try

Not in a world where it’s only okay it you happen to be a guy

I want to live in a world where it’s not rebellious to watch porn

Where it’s not rebellious to make porn

Where it’s not rebellious to be in porn

Where it’s not rebellious to make, watch and be in porn

Where it’s not rebellious to get your tits out

Where it’s not rebellious to put them away

Where we have a massive spectrum of tits surrounding us every day

Not just airbrushed and enhanced and young and pert plastered all over the place

But also wrinkled, and saggy and small and mis-shaped and practically down to your waist.

I want to live where there is no need to come out as Bi or as Gay

Because people no longer assume that everyone’s straight anyway

Where all songs and films and fairy tales that children like to hear

Have characters of all shapes and kinds, including loads of queers

And I want ALL these things so very much, I’m just going to live like they’re already true

And if you try and stop me, well then I’ll show my rebellion to you
